The State Highway Patrol says four people, two of them children, were killed Friday evening in a two-car accident on SR 9 in Belmont County. All four were passengers. Those killed were 22-year-old Lucas Sedgemer, of New Athens; 22-year-old Derrick Schucht, of Cadiz; and nine-year-old Stephanie Faulkner and six-year-old Brittany Faulkner, both of Jacobsburg. The children were passengers in a car driven by 27-year-old Amy Faulkner, of Jacobsburg, which collided with a car driven by 24-year-old Andy Bates, of Cadiz. Both drivers have been flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. The patrol says the collision occurred when the Bates car attempted to pass another northbound vehicle and collided with Faulkner’s car, which was going in the opposite direction.
