Police say a caller to a telephone hot line has admitted making up a story about an eighth-grader threatening to shoot his classmates. The tip led police to the home of 14-year-old Robert Reincheld, where they found a gun and bullets. A prosecutor says Rincheld was arrested and charged with an unrelated delinquency count of trafficking in marijuana. Newark police sergeant Scott Snow says police decided not to pursue a delinquency charge of inducing panic after the caller said the threat never occurred. He says police are investigating where the gun came from and whether additional charges were appropriate. Captain Roger Stollard says police won’t pursue charges against the caller.
