The Ohio Historical Society says it will have to close ten of its sites and cut back hours at others unless it gets more money in the next two months. Three local facilities would be included in the group that will be shut down, the Zane Grey-National Road Museum in Norwich and the Flint Ridge and Newark Earthworks Museums in Licking County. The Society says unless the Ohio Senate gives it four million dollars more than the 11-and-a-half million dollars the House provided in its version of the budget eight sites would be shut down. The Society says it also will shut down its museum in Columbus for two weeks in October and again in February to save money. The Senate is expected to pass its version of the 48 billion dollar, two year budget in early June.
