Some vendors have resumed deliveries at Big Bear stores after parent company Penn Traffic offered to pay in advance. Deliveries were halted after Penn Traffic said last week it might seek protection for the second time in four years. Meanwhile, speculation abounds about Big Bear’s future. Analysts say Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle is a likely suitor. A spokesman said the chain might be interested in buying some of the stores but has not looked into it. Cincinnati-based Kroger had not comment about possible purchase of any Big Bear stores.
