The local NAACP is growing tremendously and the organization hopes their efforts will put an end to discrimination. Monthly meetings are held at the Zanesville Civic League. Those who attend discuss current issues concerning the community and work as a team to find resolutions. Kenneth Burke, president of Muskingum County Branch, says there’s a lot of discrimination going on that many people within the community are unaware of. Burke says you can’t put a color or age on it as it affects all of us. There are almost one hundred members and the number is increasing on a daily basis. The NAACP encourages everyone to join the group regardless of age or race. If you would like to find out more about membership you can contact them at 453-1526.
