Newark Man Stabbed After Dispute

Thursday night a Newark man allegedly instigated a fight and ended up stabbed in the chest. According to the Newark Police Department, officers responded to a call shortly after 10:00 Thursday night at 72-Near North 10th Street. Upon arrival, officers found evidence of an incident, including blood and a six-inch steak knife. The victim, 39-year-old Richard Howard, was found a short time later on West Church Street with a single knife wound to his chest. According to police reports, Howard allegedly was fighting with 39-year-old Dorothy Anthony, when he began to strike her. A male juvenile resident of the home attempted to assist Ms. Anthony and himself was assaulted. The juvenile obtained a knife and Howard was stabbed. He was ground transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus with what is believed to be critical injuries. The Newark Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. No arrests have been made.
