Picketers wanted to attract the attention of the East Transit Board of Trustees Friday morning. Drivers and mechanics of the public transportation Z-Bus system “practiced” picketing outside the Main Street Z-Bus office. According to spokesman Jim Rowmine, the workers have had a temporary contract of three years with the Board. However, Rowmine says last Thursday the Board decided to offer a two-year contract. Friday’s demonstration was not a strike, but workers say if an agreement is not reached soon a strike is possible. Attempts to contact Board Chairman Larry Ledford were unsuccessful.
