Many local residents took part in a game of golf today, while honoring some recent graduates. The Zanesville Jaycees golf course held their annual memorial golf course tournament today. Each year the Jaycees help out area high school seniors by contributing to their college education. Today they handed out four-one thousand dollar scholarships. Jason Hines, Chairman of the Jaycees golf course explained,” Most scholarships are based upon grades, or actual academic performance, whereas ours is weighted more heavily on community service since we are a community service organization. Everybody that’s involved in the Jaycees feels it’s very important to contribute back to the community and these young people have done that.” President of Jaycees, Shawn Reilly, says that this event is special because it’s a great chance for the Jaycees to really help out in the community.
