An area man is dead after a one-vehicle accident. The Granville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred on Cristland Hills Road near state route 13 in Licking Township Monday. The victim of the crash is identified as Michael Burns of Heath. Troopers say Burns was traveling east on Cristland Hills Road, when he failed to negotiate a curve, and drove off the edge of the roadway. He then crossed back across the road and slid sideways. The vehicle’s tire clipped the edge of the road sending the car into a roll. The vehicle rolled several hundred feet before ejecting Burns. He was not wearing a seatbelt. Burns was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Highway Patrol says it has ruled that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
