The Muskingum County Board of Elections prepares for a special election next week. Residents of West Muskingum school district will be able to vote on Tuesday August fifth on a tax levy. Residents may vote at a variety of places such as Coburn United Methodist church and the Falls Township fire department. “In Muskingum County, the special election August fifth will only involve the residents in West Muskingum local school district. This is a renewal tax levy for the emergency requirements of the school district,” said Martha Thomas, Director for Muskingum County Board of Elections. She said these extra elections are unusual for Muskingum County. However, the polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Also in our area the Licking County Board of Elections will have two issues on a special ballot next Tuesday as well. The first is for West Muskingum school district, the same issue as Muskingum County. The other is for Johnstown-Monroe school district, which is a one percent income tax, five years for current expenses.
