A teacher arrested Monday after being chased through Fairfield County farm fields by Sheriff’s deputies, dogs and a police helicopter has been charged with masterminding a theft ring. Authorities say the theft ring allegedly organized by 34-year-old John Dolby included former students at the Fairfield Career Center in Lancaster, where he has been a computer support technology teacher for two years. Fairfield County Sheriff, Dave Phalen says Dolby was charged with felony counts of receiving stolen property and trafficking in marijuana and could be indicted on additional charges. Dolby fled the school Monday and was arrested when a deputy cornered him in a field behind the school. Deputies also arrested a former student, 19-year-old Joseph Lanning of Reynoldsburg and charged him with theft.
