Besides bringing a Super-Center to South Zanesville, the new Wal-Mart may bring lower gas prices. Murphy Gas USA leases land from the new Wal-Mart and opened in conjunction with them on August 20th. Many drivers around town have noticed the low gas prices at the gas station. The price per gallon today was $1.53. Manager Lynn Watson said she is starting gas prices off low to attract customers. Murphy Gas USA is not owned by Wal-Mart, but they are attracting quite a crowd to South Zanesville. It’s also forcing competitors to lower prices, like the BP just down the road. Over the past two weeks, gas prices nationwide have risen over 15 cents per gallon.
