Governor Taft’s new school funding committee is learning how difficult it is to reach a consensus on the hotly debated issue. The Blue Ribbon Task Force on Financing Student Success must report its findings to Taft early next year. The 23 members are expressing widely different ideas on how to fix the system. About the only thing they agree on is that something must be done. Taft wants the committee to come up with a competitive and equitable tax structure that provides sufficient and predictable funding for schools.
