Governor Taft’s science advisor spoke to the Zanesville Rotary Club about the Third Frontier Project this afternoon. Frank Samuel told the group about Third Frontier’s goal of generating high tech jobs through increasing knowledge. He said the governor’s office has been working on a variety of projects around the state, thanks to money from the capital budget and paybacks from tobacco companies. One of the things they are doing is a project at Ohio State for medical imaging to improve the capacity to detect cancer early. Samuel said the bottom line is creating jobs, specifically manufacturing in our area. Issue One on today’s ballot is an issue to fund Third Frontier. Samuel said it just allows them to amend the constitution to issue additional bonds.
