A report due out Wednesday shows that almost half of Ohio third graders failed to reach proficient levels on a new third-grade reading test.
A copy of the report obtained by the Associated Press shows that 46.3 percent of third graders did not pass the test.
The results show that about 60,000 third-graders achieved only limited or basic test scores. Third graders have two more chances this school year to take the test.
The new test was created two years ago after lawmakers overhauled the state’s proficiency test system.
