Emergency Services are on the way for a county with high demand.

Thanks to Community Ambulance Services of Zanesville, residents in Perry County will no longer have to wait five minutes or more for assistance in an emergency situation.

According to Director of Operations for Community Ambulance Services, Jamey Baker, in the event that local fire department crews have an extended response time, a satellite medic staffed ambulance will now be available for those residents.

Two of the Zanesville ambulances will be moved to the satellite location in New Lexington and one will be staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Baker says additional staff has been hired for this venture, five temporary positions were filled as well as a few new recruits were hired on.

This particular service is being run on a six month agreement that begins this Sunday.

After six months, Baker says officials will then take an overall look at the system and assess it to see if a more premanent relationship should develop.
