Today marks the start of a week that is dedicated to E-M-S personnel.

The week long celebration is to thank our area emergency services personnel for all the work they do. According to Jamey Baker, the director of Operation for Community Ambulance Service, Thursday is going to be dedicated to children’s safety. “We’re going to take the day out of emergency services week and we’re going to visit some local elementary schools like Pleasant Grove and we are also going to be at McDonalds for a couple of hours that afternoon. We’re going to be passing out some safety utensils such as plug protectors and comic books and crayons and the public to show the importance of safety and what to do in the event of an emergency.”

Community Ambulance Service has more than sixty trained E-M-T’s on staff, and this week is full of activities to thank them for all their hard work.

The National E-M-S Week has been going on for more than a decade. The event is sponsored by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Highway Traffic Safety Department.
