Investigation Into Discovery Of Charred Remains

A gruesome discovery Thursday night, as Perry County Officials, The Ohio State Fire Marshall's Office and BCI&I continue to piece together evidence in the discovery of charred remains found in a smoldering vehicle.


According to Perry County Sheriff William Barker, Crooksville, and Roseville Fire crews responded to a call of a vehicle fire on Porti Flamingo Road at the Old Peabody mine entrance. Upon arrival, crews found the charred remains of a human body inside the car.


Perry County Sheriff's deputies were then called to the scene and assisted by Dr. Bradley Wilson, the County Coroner, and The Perry County Task Force in processing evidence and examining the vehicle and remains.


Authorities are not releasing the identity of the deceased at this time. An autopsy has been ordered, and the vehicle was impounded.
