Cutting Edge Technology

Technology at one local ambulance service is improving response times in Muskingum County.

Just one of the many types of technology Community Ambulance Service is using is their Geographical Information Systems mapping; the system is able to show an exact aerial view of the incident where the call is located.

“The mapping system’s make it a lot easier for the crews not only to get to the calls more efficiently and for the dispatchers to know what exactly is going on and where the units are located at all times, you know it cuts down on response times as well,” explained Billie Nagy, Operations Manager, Community Ambulance.

The cutting edge technology is making the job easier for paramedics and EMT’s who are out on a call.

The average response time for an emergent call in the city of Zanesville is around five minutes, the national average is eight minutes so we’re well below the rest, every second counts when you’re responding on an emergent call especially if it’s a cardiac arrest or breathing difficulty, five minutes is excellent and it could mean life or death,” said Nagy.

Most of the technology at Community Ambulance is only available in Muskingum County, but it’s moving into several outlying counties.
