Child Support Awareness Month
Governor Strickland has declared August Child Support Awareness Month for the state of Ohio, and today the Muskingum County Commissioners did the same.

The commissioners issued a proclamation today in honor of the announcement. The Muskingum County Child Support Agency was on hand and also announced they would be accepting an award next week in Columbus for their hard work.

“That state Office of Child Support has notified us that we have the highest percentage of paternity establishment in the state of Ohio for medium sized counties,” says Deputy Director of the Child Support Division Vince Durant.

The agency collects $16 million dollars a year in child support from over 9,000 cases. Still, there are people who choose not to pay.

“Typically the hardest people to get to pay the support from are the ones that we can’t find.”

In an effort to combat this, the new most wanted poster for child support offenders will be coming out later this month. If you have any information, you can call the Muskingum County Child Support Agency at 455-7146.
