After a Missouri woman claims that Walgreens gave her chemotherapy drugs instead of prescribed prenatal vitamins resulting in a miscarriage-Northside Pharmacy here in Zanesville says they have strict security measures.

Northside has a process that prescriptions must undergo before being handed out to customers; including scanning the label on the customer's bottle with the pharmacy's bottle to make sure they match, and if they do-a picture of the medicine appears on the computer.

"I'm not foolish enough to say that a mistake could never occur, but I'll do everything within my power to be sure that I don't make one," says Northside Pharmacist Rod Stickrath.

Pharmacist Rod Stickrath says even though it is the pharmacy's responsibility to ensure customers get the right medications-he recommends customers ask questions about their prescriptions.

Stickrath adds, "Consumers should be constantly vigil about that particular problem, because we're all humans and mistakes and errors are possible in any pharmacy anywhere."

Stickrath also says customers should be alert if their regular prescriptions look or smell different-as that could be an indication of the wrong medication or it could simply be a generic version.
