Every month at WHIZ we take time to highlight a child in the state of Ohio that needs adopted.

This month I hope you enjoy meeting Ashley.

Fifth grade student Ashley has overcome and succeeded over the last few years, having moved from a group home into a foster setting and attending public school.

"She's worked really hard to get where she has today," explained Ashley's social worker Melony Ginova. "She's had a difficult life up till this point. Now that she's ready to get back into a family setting and public school. It shows the healing that she's done."

While Ashley still doesn't love all her classes she does enjoy math along with basketball, swimming and drawing.

She loves just being one of the girls like today as she gets a complete makeover.

And she says she's doing her best at growing up.

"I can be very immature at times but I try my best to be mature," said Ashley.

"She seems like the typical teenage girl," said Ginova. "She likes to listen to music, dance around in the backseat of a car."

What this fun loving teen needs most is a warm, loving family, preferably a single mom with a big brother to go along with it.
