Every month here at WHIZ I like to introduce you to a child in need of a loving home. This month's child is Shemika.
You don't get much more fun loving then 14 year old Shemika, who is up for adoption.
Lara Barrington, Shemika's social worker, describes her best, "She enjoys trying new things. She's nervous at first but once involved she's very open to new ideas and she really gets in there and gives it her best shot."
Shemika is described as a girlie girl who loves dresses, getting her hair done, and shopping.
She also loves to sing, especially in the church choir.
"She has sung in the choirs of all the churches she's attended," said Barrington. "She absolutely sings wonderfully. If someone loves music she'd be perfect for them."
And she is an animal lover though her choice of a favorite pet is quite unusual.
"I want rats," said a very excited Shemika. Though she doesn't know why.
Barrington added, "She loves pets and she'd love to be with a family that would have as many pets as they could."
But, before the pets and shopping trips a loving home is what she needs.
"She would need to be the youngest child in the family and we'd really like to see her in a family where she would be the only child. She needs one on one attention," said Barrington.
