When it rains it pours-especially for Manager of Braggs Furniture in McConnelsville Tom Bragg.

"I don't know that I can put it in words. The water's so devastating. You can't stop it," says Bragg.

Driving through McConnelsville it's clear-they get the hardest hit when it rains due to lower elevation. At Bragg's Furniture...merchandise has been moved to protect the furniture from flood damage.

"We don't anything until it starts in the doors. We sandbag one door off the lowest door and we just wait-when it starts in the doors that's when we start moving stuff," says Bragg adding,

"It ends up seeping through the flower beds, through the foundation into our showroom down here-and there's no way to stop that."

and then the water just flows in...

Those high waters destroyed the flooring and like many...Bragg's doesn't have flood insurance to cover the estimated $10,000 cost of replacing the floor.

"With the cost of the flood insurance-a lot of people opt not to purchase the insurance," says Boyer Insurance Manager Kelly Komaromy.

In places like McConnelsville-considered a high flood area-property owners will pay more for flood insurance-sometimes more than $1200 a year.

"It's not a cheap coverage-but it is a valuable coverage," adds Komaromy.

Value McConnelsville knows all too well.
