WHIZ Buys WCVZ 92.7 F-M Radio
The face of radio is about to make a change in Zanesville....but the sound will stay the same.
Today The WHIZ Media Group and Christian Voice of Central Ohio are announcing an agreement for Whiz to acquire WCVZ 92.7 F-M.
WHIZ will take over 92.7 and WCVZ is inviting it listeners to listen at 89.3 - The Promise.
WHIZ President Hank Littick says its a win-win for both radio groups.
"Today we have an exciting announcement
We have made an agreement with The Christian Voice of Central Ohio to acquire their FM radio station on channel 92.7.
This is a mutual and beneficial agreement for both companies.
CVCO will continue to serve the market with their familiar format on a station they acquired which is on 89.3, on the non commercial band.
As has been announced in the past, we are relocating our 102 frequency so this agreement means that our company will maintain its presence in our area on the FM dial. We will continue our commitment to our local community by moving our format to 92.7.
So as I said this agreement not only helps the companies involved it will also be a benefit to the community because both companies remain alive and well in our market and will continue to serve our listeners."
Christian Voice of Central Ohio General Manager Dan Baughman says even though The River will no longer be on 92.7, our new format at 89.3 The Promise will play all the same music, keep the same air staff and much more.
Baughman says The River will serve Newark and the greater Zanesville communities.
