Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says three men are in custody tonight facing drug charges after a routine call turned into a drug bust.

Sheriff Lutz says early Wednesday morning deputies were called to 2982 Brookside Drive to investigate a disturbance call.

Lutz says when deputies arrived they knew it was more and called the department’s drug unit which along with the Central Ohio Drug Task Force performed an investigation.

Lutz says investigators recovered two pounds of marijuana, several drug paraphernalia and several firearms.

Sheriff Lutz says 24-year-old David Allen Sowers of 2982 Brookside Drive is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

20-year-old Morgan James Curtis, of the same address, is charged with possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon and receiving stolen property.

And 22-year-old Micah Dominic Simpson of 516 West Bank Street in Uhrichsville is facing possession of marijuana.

All three men are being held in the Muskingum County jail.

Sheriff Lutz says the key to the bust was the result of smart thinking by his deputies, drug investigators and help from the Central Ohio Drug Task Force.

Lutz added that Muskingum County Prosecutor Mike Haddox reviewed the case which led to formal charges being filed.
