The Noble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 on State Route 821 near Boswell Road.

Investigators say 41-year-old James Stephens of Pleasant City was driving north on 821 and went off the road into a ditch and stream then into a field before hitting a fence.

Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Noble County Coroner.

The accident remains under investigation.
