Ohio University students are reflecting on the incident that occurred at Palmer Fest Saturday night, where an annual street party almost turned into a riot.
A female senior at OU, who wishes to remain anonymous, lives on Palmer Street. She says she and her friends were inside watching a hockey game when things took a turn for the worse.
"It actually kind of disappointed me because I've heard in the past at different fests they've had problems and riots before, but it just took a good thing a little bit too far. Palmer Fest happens every year and year every year, it gets a little crazy and students try to have fun, but some take it a little too far. This year, it was just sad that people threw stuff at horses and going against the cops. It just didn't seem necessary, " she says.
She says she and her friends wanted to get out of their home and away from Palmer Fest. When they returned a few hours later, she says the city was working hard to clean up the street.
"There was a huge bulldozer pushing debris down the street and cleaning it up. There were still a few horse cops lingering by the next morning. You probably wouldn't have even know stuff had been burned, " she says.
