The protesting has started about the City of Zanesville's idea of possibly using Red Light Cameras on Maple Avenue and in School Zones.

At 3:30 this afternoon (Thursday) City officials started meeting with representatives of two companies who want to be the vendor for the Red Light Cameras.

Outside Zanesville City Hall people are protesting the proposed plan.

Zanesville Mayor Butch Zwelling says he wants the cameras for safety reasons. Area residents who emailed Whiz News says it is all about the City of Zanesville making money and not about safety.

The concerned citizens says they are not interested in another problem like the City of Heath is having over the installation of the cameras. Around 17,000 tickets were issued in the Licking County community since the cameras were installed this summer.
