Shred and Recycle Day At Starlight
A local school is teaching its students the importance of recycling.

Starlight School is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a Shred and Recycle Day. Members of the community were encouraged to bring paper and other recyclables to Starlight.

"It has been kind of slow this morning so we are encouraging everyone to come, but we are really encouraged to have a lot of community support," says John Hill, Superintendent of Starlight Programs.

Starlight is hoping to have around 100 people today. The school has come a long way in just 50 years.

"Back in 1959 the first class started with seven students, a teacher and an aide and the teacher provided the transportation. So we have come a long way in 50 years. We have a full range of services for our children, our adults living in the community, working in the community and playing in the community," says Hill.

Inside the school, there is art and hand-made jewelry that will be available in a silent auction next Saturday at Starlight.
