Trooper Henry speaks about crash

An accident on Eastbound I-70 near Exit 149 backed up traffic for miles this afternoon.

The driver of a gray van was traveling in the right hand lane when troopers say he took his eyes off the road and lost control.

"He hit a parked van, spun around, hit a parked dodge truck that was unhooked from the van and they spun out and came to final rest," says Trooper Todd Henry of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The camper and the pick-up truck were empty. The driver of the van did need to be taken to the hospital.

"(the crash) trapped the driver inside the vehicle on the driver's side, we were able to extract him with the jaws pretty easy.  He has a pretty severe arm injury and he is being taken to Good Samaritian for treatment,"tells Fire Chief JD Johnson of the Falls Township Fire Department.

Eastbound I-70 was closed for about twenty minutes while firefighters extracted the driver from the van. Traffic did not return to normal until hours later. Troopers say charges are pending against the driver.
