Early Voting

Election Day may is still over a month away, but some area residents took advantage of early voting.

Starting today, Ohio voters may cast no-fault absentee ballots for the November 3 elections.

Board of Election Director Chris Hamill says the office has been busy mailing absentee ballots--sending out nearly 350. Hamill said there have been quite a few people coming into the Board of Elections as well.

"Actually it's been a busy first day," said  Hamill. "We've had approximately 20 absentee voters. It's been a little more than normal."

Hamill said if you still need to register, you need to hurry because time is running out.

"If you are not registered in Muskingum County, you need to register. You can go to any public office or you can come here. We will be open Monday until 9 p.m. The close of registration is Monday, Ooctober 5."

If you need to request an absentee ballot, Hamill said to contact the Board of Elections by October 31. She said ballots need to be into the office by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day.

The Board of Elections will also have new hours starting Tuesday, October 6. They will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a,m, to 4 p.m.
