One person is taken to the hospital after a truck hit the railroad overpass by the Y-Bridge on Linden Avenue.
It happened around 3:15pm Wednesday afternoon.
The Zanesville Police Department says the driver of Bernie's Tree Removal Service truck, hit the bridge traveling around 30 miles per hour. Authorities say a female passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, struck the windshield and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by Community Ambulance. A railroad inspector checked the bridge overpass and there is no structural damage, but there is extensive damage to the truck.
"It tore the boom off the top, bent the frame and took the chipper off the back. It's leaking a little bit of hydraulic oil and some diesel fuel, so we will put some oil dry down on that and the street department blocked the streets off and the police department is waiting on a wrecker to get it out from underneath the bridge," says Deputy Chief Craig Stemm with the Zanesville Fire Department.
The Zanesville Police Department says the driver of the truck will be charged with failure to obey a traffic control device and failure to use a seatbelt. Zanesville police, fire and Community Ambulance responded to the accident.
