The Muskingum Valley Boy Scouts now have a new leader.
Ed Mulholland is the new Scout Executive of the Muskingum Valley Council. Growing up, he was a member of the Boy Scouts and graduated as an Eagle Scout. He's been working for the Boy Scouts for 20 years and has big plans for their future.
"Well our biggest objective is always to increase our membership and there are several ways we can do that, first we just had a great fall round up in September, recruited 500 new Cub Scouts in the last month and we did that by involving more volunteers in the process," tells Mulholland.
Mulholland also wants to work on retention and the training of scout leaders. He says growing up as a Boy Scout gave him many unforgettable memories and made him who he is today.
"Parents would want their sons to be scouts because the real purpose of the program is character development, citizenship training, personal fitness and leadership," says Mulholland.
Mulholland says he is just one of the 3,000 professional workers employed by the Boy Scouts nationwide. The 100th anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts will be in Feburary.
