The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a 15-year-old who is accused of having made 95 prank calls to the couty's 9-1-1 system.
The teen faces charges of telecommunications harassment, misuse of 9-1-1, and harassment of a telecommunicator.
Sheriff Dave Phalen says the charges are serious because the prank calls take dispatchers' attention away from real emergencies.
The Sheriff's Office says it was able to locate the cellular caller at his residence, thanks to its automated enhanced 9-1-1 system.
Sheriff Phalen says deputies spoke with the teen, who admitted to making the calls.
He was taken into custody but then released to his parents.
