A local crime fighting group is looking for the the Muskingum County Commissioners to get on board.

Don Jones from the Crime Stoppers Program, accompanied by Sheriff Matt Lutz, says the Crime Stoppers program in Zanesville is successful and they would like to expand it to the county.

"It is a program that is working in the city and they wanted us to show support and jump on board as best we can and I think we are willing to do that and a key in this whole program is Sheriff Matt Lutz and Matt is behind it and willing to help coordinate with Crime Stoppers and so we are willing to throw our support behind them and support them however we can to alleviate crime in the county," says Commissioner Brian Hill.

The program is comprised of anonymous volunteers and Jones says they are the eyes and ears of law enforcement.

The Muskingum County Commissioners say they support the program and are willing to volunteer in their community if the crime stoppers want them.
