One local community is coming together to celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas.
The young and the old met at the Avondale Youth Center tonight for carriage rides, Christmas music, and a special visit from Mr. and Mrs. Clause.
"You can look at some of these kids who are less fortunate and people who have some difficulties in their lives. We're giving back to some of those kids, " says Avondale Youth Center Director, Nathaniel Norris.
This is the first time the "Old-Fashioned Christmas Celebration" has appeared in about 30 years.
A tea party was held right before the festivities for Avondale residents who were around back in the 1920's through the 1940's.
"The people at the tea are getting together and really talking about their stories, telling their stories, and reliving their stories, " says Norris.
Norris says some of these stories will be used in a book the center plans to write. It will tell the history of Avondale, starting in the year 1910.
