The Muskingum County Engineer's Office recently put in new stop signs at two different local intersections, but it says people are not following the new traffic laws.

So, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office was brought into the matter.

"We need to patrol these because people are knocking down the stop signs and stealing them, " says Muskingum County Engineer, Doug Davis.

The first 3-way stop is located at the intersection of North River Road West, Richvale Road, and Bellview Road.

The second is at the intersection of Ransbottom Road, Lambert Road, and Baughman Road.

"Due to the topography and the nature of the roadway itself with the hills and the curves that intersect at these particular sections of roadway, we though it would be best to just make everyone stop. Everyone come to a 3-way stop completely and look because it's safe, " says Davis.

Davis says people need to be aware of these new stop signs and need to get used to stopping at them.
