A giraffe born and raised at The Wilds died after being transported to the Tulsa Zoo.
The giraffe named "Amali" and another female giraffe were on their way to the Tulsa Zoo to breed with male giraffes. A neck injury was discovered when "Amali" arrived in Tulsa. Tulsa Zoo veterinarian, Dr. Kay Backues, says the giraffe had a broken growth plate in her neck. Executive Director of The Wilds, Evan Blumer, says transporting animals is often safe, this is just an unfortunate, rare occurance.
