Coshocton County Fire Investigators will spend Thursday on the scene of what's left after a large garage fire Wednesday night.

Conesville CFV Fire Chief Ray Worthington says a motorist possibly driving on State Route 16 noticed the garage fire at 46430 Township Road 483 and woke up the property's owner Jeremy Jacobs just before 11pm.

The unattached garage sits downwind from the property's home and due to the high winds Worthington says the fire and smoke was whipping around the home and is amazed it never caught fire.

The home did suffer some damage, several windows were broken out by the heat and vinyl siding melted.

The garage is a total loss.

The Ohio Department of Transportation also needed to be called in to salt down roadways and Franklin Township Trustees brought in a backhoe to remove a firewood pile. Water was also shuttled in from AK Steel.

Worthington says the were assisted on the scene by Three Rivers Fire District, Jackson Township and the City of Coshocton.
