With 2010 just around the corner, that means it's almost time for the next national census.
And with the 2010 census many jobs will be opening up in Southeastern Ohio.
"We're going to be hiring more than 1,000 people in a 13 county area," said Local Census Office Manager Donald Jordan. "A lot of them will be in muskingum county, where you're located and the surrounding counties. We have lots of different jobs and we're
Starting that hiring process next month."
Every 10 years a census is taken by the government to get an accurate count of who is living in the United States, but getting accurate results can greatly benefit each community.
"Most people don't understand is that this is the number one way tax dollars come back into our community," said Southern Ohio Partnership Specialist Cynthia King. "This isn't just a large federal survey that we're doing. This is how our community leaders know where to build new schools, new hospitals and new roads."
King says Ohio is in danger of losing another congressional seat if each person is not counted.
She says each form will only be 10 questions this year and easy to do.
