The Muskingum County Commissioners were talking about budget issues today. Commissioner John Bates feels confident in the new year's financial plan.
"It's up 30% of what he actually projected. So we're in better shape than what we had," Commissioner Bates said.
Going into a bad year in 2009 the commissioners froze everything- meaning no pay raises, anyone that quit wasn't replaced, and no new hires. Bates says thanks to freezing the budget everything is starting to balance out.
"Our budget and stuff looks pretty good and our carry over and stuff looks pretty good, so actually we're pretty pleased," Bates said.
Commissioner Bates says going into 2010 the county's budget is up but they'll keep an eye on it like they did last year.
"This year we are going to be very frugle in what we spend," Bates said.
"Actually they budget $32,00,00 last year, a little over, and this year we actally spent $30,500,00," he explained.
Commissioner Bates says he thinks the economy is stablizing and that they are pretty much right on budget going into 2010.
