The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol says last night's back-up on Interstate 70 was caused by two separate accidents.
It happened around 8:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Gratiot.
Dispatchers say a Hummer that was pulling a trailor lost control and went off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail.
The second accident involved two cars. Dispatchers say one of the drivers slowed down for the crashed Hummer but the other couldn't, causing it to crash into the car in the other lane.
Both accidents forced troopers to completely close Interstate 70 eastbound for about 15 minutes, backing up traffic, but one lane remained closed for close to three hours as crews worked to clean up the mess.
No one was injured in either accident.
