There are a few new faces on city council for the new year.
Tonight three members were sworn into their seats on council.
Grant Hutcheson is a first-time council member, representing the second ward.
Andrew Roberts joins council for the first time as Council at Large.
Mark Baker joins council as the first ward council member. Baker previously served four terms, but lost his seat in the last election.
"It's very exciting, for the simple fact that i know most of these people," said Baker. "I very much like working with them. I try and stay involved in local politics as much as I can. I'm going to do what I can to lend a hand to some of the problems the city has."
New and old council members alike acknowledge that 2010 will bring with it serious challenges.
"Budget being one of them," said Andrew Roberts. "Hopefully we can overcome that and keep as many services in place as possible. As far as the other ones, only time will tell as far as what will come there."
"I believe city council needs to find the funds to keep operating after three months into this year," said Baker. "That's going to be difficult and mean some difficult choices, but also to figure out a way to monitor the budget process, so that we don't have to go through this situation again."
Dan Vincent, formerly in Roberts' seat is now President of Council.
Connie Norman was voted President Pro-Tempore.
