Students from West Muskingum High School learn a lesson in government straight from Washington, DC.
18th District Congressman Zack Space talked to students Friday morning about the importance of the upcoming census, educational funding and the political process.
"I think it's an important educational experience for them and it's important for me too," said 18th Congressional District Congressman Zack Space. "It helps me keep in touch with where their coming from and allows them to get an idea of what's happening from Washington and some of the rational for some of the things going on right now."
This month the congressman with also launch a tour to promote his Renew Ohio Plan which includes advancing the areas of technology, agriculture and energy within Appalachian Ohio. Space said education is key to the efforts.
"Those area of the country that are able to develop a workforce, those areas that can put together adequate professional experiences will be the ones that will be able to capitalize on those emerging trends."
Throughout this month Space will also meet with local businesses, organizations and educators to learn their advances in the areas of technology, agriculture and energy and share them with others who are looking to improve.
