Hartman's passion to help others

A local man who has helped members of the community during the worst times of their life is now in need of the community's prayers and support.

The Executive Director of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross, Dan Hartman, had a heart-triple bypass last Wednesday. Red Cross staff say it was unexpected, but Hartman is now home on the mend.

"I spoke with him earlier this (Friday)  morning and his voice was a little stronger than the last time and and he is, you know, he has got a lot of work to do to get back on that road to recovery," tells Marlene Henderson the Director of Readiness and Development for the Red Cross.

Hartman has worked for the Red Cross for 15 years and has helped countless families through some of their toughest times. Many know Dan Hartman as the face of the Red Cross.

"I think Dan has made a huge impact on the community with the Red Cross with our ability to be out in the public when they see Dan they know the Red Cross is there and he has done an excellent job of recruiting and training a staff that is here that is a very well oiled machine and believe me we will not miss anything in his absence, the work will go on just as if he was sitting at this desk," says Henderson.

Henderson says Hartman was the calm voice during a disaster and his passion to help and motivate others was contagious.  Cards for Hartman can be sent to the Muskingum Valley Red Cross at the address below. Staff will see to it that Hartman receives every card.
