A Zanesville motorist is in trouble with authorities after being picked up for multiple traffic violations, including hitting a State Patrol vehicle.

Zanesville Police Lt. Bill Shaw says 35-year-old Michel Ellis was driving on Mead Street around 2:20 Thursday morning when he went left of center striking a parked truck head on, causing heavy damage to his vehicle. Ellis attempted to flee the crash and hit a second parked car on Mead Street.

Officers responding to the area found Ellis on Brighton Boulevard at Hickory after he sideswiped an Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicle that was near the intersection responding to a minor traffic violation.

Ellis is being charged with multiple counts of failure to control, hit-skip and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
