Jadwin speaks about EMA snow plan

With the heavy overnight snow, the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency leapt into action Saturday morning to help keep the public safe.

The Deputy Director of the EMA Jeff Jadwin says they first made sure all the main roads were clear so emergency vehicles could get through. But the wide spread power outages were also a worry.

"The big concern that we had this morning was the amount of people that we had without power and it went over 7,000 and people were wanting shelter, so we have been in contact with the Red Cross, Salvation Army and state EMA, so this snow balled pretty quick this morning," tells Jadwin.

Jadwin says the situation is challenging, but the system put in place is working.

"We drill this stuff, so yes we are pretty well on top of it, getting people here to start making the phone calls, getting the different people who are normally involved to get here to do the things that they need to do, so it has gone real well today," tells Jadwin.

By mid-afternoon, the crews were were able to start clearing the side roads around the area. Jadwin says if you have a problem and need help, you can call the EMA at (740) 453-1655 and they will do their best to help.
