Muskingum County Sheriff, Matt Lutz, says his office is prepared to handle the winter storm.
While a tight county budget does makes things difficult when it comes to overtime, he says his office has enough people on duty to handle whatever mother nature throws our way.
"If we see that we're going to have a bunch of accidents at a certain time, we can hold one shift over while the other shift comes on. That doubles our manpower for that day, " says Lutz.
However, he is asking motorists to keep any unnecessary traffic off the roadways during times like these.
"If you don't have to go anywhere, stay home, enjoy the evening, find something on TV, and vegge out on the couch. If you are going somewhere, leave a little early and take a little extra time. Assume things are going to happen around you as far as cars sliding out from stop signs, cars sliding left of center, or spinning out in front of you, " says Lutz.
If the Sheriff's Office has less minor accidents to deal with, it can turn its attention toward more serious ones, with injuries and other crimes in the county.
