Bates speaks about Z-Bus

The Muskingum County Commissioners granted the first installment of $20,000 to a local transportation service.

Z-Bus receives $40,000 a year from the county. Commissioner Bates says Z-Bus provides an important service to the region.

"If we don't have people out shopping then they are not spending money for their taxes, so we need to make sure the Z-Bus is supported," tells Commissioner Bates.

Bates says a lot of people in Muskingum County would not be able to get around without Z-Bus. Though Z-Bus does charge a fare, it also needs some financial assistance from the county and city. Zanesville cut its subsidy to Z-Bus by 50%. This year Z-Bus will receive $80,000 from the city.
